Rishi Sharadwan’s daughter name “Krupi” was married to Guru Dronacharya. In Mahabharata,  we know that when Guru Dronacharya was shot dead by Dhrishtdyum, was received by his wife Krupiadorn with sixteen makeup went down into his funeral. Then People tried to stop her, but She is faithful to her husband’s funeral pyre, Her (Krupi)  decision did not allow her to obey. Then he blessed the people, that anyone will reach the Shrine, be faithful at the site of her desire, whatever is, must be fulfilled his vow.

    In  1650, a king named Bharatpurbuilt built a very beautiful temple in Gurgaon where Mata Krupigot sati is established and a quarter kilo gold statue of Mother Krupiin the temple itself. There are many folk myths about this establishment. It is believed by the locals that if this deity is invoked with faith, she dispels the disease, especially smallpox. A good number of visitors come for the mundane ceremony (the first hair-cutting ceremony) of their children. They offer the crop of hair to the goddess. Mata Kurpi is another name for Devi sheetla.
