    The  is about 3 feet below mandapa level. We have to go down a few steep stairs to reach there. There is a tall Shivling in the center with two cobra snakes standing beside it. Behind the Ling, there is a beautiful statue of Parvati. Apart from these, there are statues of Ganesh, Hanuman, Jagannath, and other deities all around the inner walls.

    History

    The sanctuary has a Kund and it is accepted to be associated with another ancient town Arang of Chhattisgarh state through a burrow.

    It is an antiquated sanctuary built by Kalchuris amid the 13th-century Advertisement. It is said that this sanctuary was built in 6 months which is why it is additionally called the 6 Maashi (Maasi or Masi, in English – Months) sanctuary. The sanctuary has a Kund and it is accepted to be associated with another ancient town Arang of Chhattisgarh state through a burrow.

    As per the information board put up by the Archeological Survey of India, this Nagar-style Shiv Temple was built in the 13-14th century by Kalachuri dynasty kings. This temple is also called Chhamahi or six-month temple.

    As per another legend, when this temple was being built, there was night continuously for six months. That is why it is also called Chhamasi Mandir or Six Month Temple.

    Inside/Outside Views

    The mandapa columns are embellished with pictures of Bhairava, Vishnu, Mahishasur Mardini (a shape of Devi Durga who slaughtered the evil presence Mahishasura), shiva, artists, artists, and Kirtimukha plans.

    The sanctuary is east-facing, built of sandstone. It features a Garbhagriha and a pillared Navaranga Mandapa(hall). The shikhara which is gathered to have been built in Nagara fashion is lost.     By Air: The closest air terminal is Swami Vivekananda Air terminal Raipur.
