The idol is a prominent building in the area, rising to a height of 51 feet. Alakhnath Temple is one of the four Shiva (Natha) temples located in Bareilly’s four corners.

    Attraction

Shiv is honored at this centuries-old temple. This temple is special since it is situated beneath the naturally occurring Shivling of an extremely old banyan tree. There are no pandits at this temple because it belongs to the Naga sadhus sect. This temple is open 24 hours a day, and you are required to perform all offerings and pujas on your own. Must-see location for a really special encounter. The two main attractions for tourists are Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman.

    History

The history of Shree Baba Alakhnath Ji Mandir spans more than 930 years. Dense trees once covered the Qila region, according to a local tale. Under a banyan tree, Saint Alakhiya used to perform penance. The temple was dubbed Alakhnath Temple in his honor. Several temples in the area were destroyed during the Mughal Empire in the late 17th century, and many saints sought safety within the temple complex. The Mughals are thought to have been unable to enter the complex. Beyond the inner gate, the temple complex consists of multiple buildings around a central courtyard.
