The Koch kingdom (1515–1949) constructed Assamese Vaishnavite monasteries in the mid-16th century for religious purposes. Madhupur Satra is also known as Dahmukutor, where “dahmukut” refers to a “bhiti,” or the living quarters of ten of Srimanta Sankardeva’s students. Attraction

It is one of West Bengal’s most well-known pilgrimage destinations. The temple, devoted to Lord Krishna, has a tiny shrine, a platform for religious performances, and a pond where devotees can take a sacred plunge. Two primary shrines comprise the temple complex, one honoring Lord Krishna and the other his wife Radha. The shrine is embellished with colorful icons of Lord Krishna, such as Radha, Rukmini, and others. The lovely green gardens that surround the shrine further enhance its splendor. Some of the most stunning spots to explore are near Madhupur Satra. These include the Palashree Lake, the Tushbari Waterfall, the Madhupur Wildlife Sanctuary, and numerous other picturesque locations. The wildlife refuge is a haven for nature lovers and home to various birds and animals. Palashree Lake is a stunning lake with clean water, perfect for strolls and picnics. The magnificent Tushbari Waterfall, which drops from a height of roughly 10 feet, is a beautiful location for sightseeing.

    History

In the middle of the 16th century, Nara Narayan of the Koch dynasty constructed these satra structures. After India gained its independence, Mahendra Mohan Choudhury, the chief minister of Assam, restored the buildings, Namghar, and roads with brick and mortar and, with the aid of the “Madhupur Satra Samiti,” constructed Sankardev’s temple in January 1968. This satra’s history is closely connected with GURUJONA Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev. If you are an Assamese, visiting is undoubtedly historical and worthwhile.
