History

There was a wooden structure before the main Chapel was built in 1863 at the exact place where the present church is. When Rev. John H. Pratt arrived at Dalhousie; the idea of building a stone structure for this church took place in 1863. He was the one who encouraged the people to construct a permanent chapel that could withstand weather complications. This Chapel is dedicated to St. John.

Inside/Outside Views

This church is the embodiment of the Victorian era of the British regime in the region. The structure of the church is like the Roman Catholic Churches of England which is made out of stones, with wooden beams on the inside. The inside of the church is decorated with wonderful glass paintings of St.John the Baptist along with St Peter. There is a library in this church that has a rich collection of rare books and photography.
