History

Is a reservoir at the foothills (Shivalik hills) of the Himalayas. This finest man-made lake in Chandigarh, India was made by Le Corbusier in the year of 1958 by damming the Sukha Choe which is a seasonal stream coming down from the Shivalik Hills. The depth of the lake is 18 feet and is spread across 3 sq km. It is enclosed by a golf course on the south and on the western end of the lake the famous Rock Garden is situated.
