Inside this memorial, the names of 2140 martyrs were carved on granite plates. The whole memorial is built in a supta-like structure by local Buddhist religious practices. The walls of the memorial are of black granite. There are two rooms on each side of the memorial. In one room there are artifacts, photographs, maps, and other stuff of war. And the other room is for sound and light show to illustrate the heroic deed of the soldiers. The museum of this Memorial displays the items like guns, bullets, mugs, helmets, pots, and many others used by the army during the war.
If visitors want to know about war then there are newspaper clippings and maps marked with the position of both armies. There is a black marble plaque ‘In the memory of those brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice defending the frontier of Mother Land during the 1962 Sino-Indo war’. The memorial was dedicated by Lt. General, HRS Kalkat, PVSM, AVSM; GOC IN-C Eastern Command on November 2nd, 1999 and blessed by the Dalai Lama in 1977.
The outside view of This Memorial is amazing. The Himalayan peaks views from This Memorial are truly pleasant to the eyes of the visitors.
