    Located in the suburb of McLeodganj in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, the famous Tibetan Museum is very popular.  Marked as the official museum of the Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration, it is located very close to the Dalai Lama Temple, known as Tughlaqhong, where his holiness is located.

    Identified as the official museum of the Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration, the Tibetan Museum aims to raise awareness of the human rights violations adopted by China and how Tibet has overcome other struggles it faces.  The interior of the museum is filled with single lines in various exhibitions, documentary screenings, talk series, photographs, and workshops and it is always hanging out with those who go with them.  A video has also been shown highlighting the journey from the Himalayas to Tibet which is very interesting to watch. Due to the exhibitions and workshops conducted, the Tibetan Museum teaches children a lot about Tibetan culture and so it is an ideal place to increase their knowledge and have fun at the same time.

    There are two sets of times for summer and winter.  The museum is open all day from Tuesday to Sunday. The museum is closed on most Mondays and Saturdays.  It is also closed on certain Indian and Tibetan holidays.  Summer 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Winter (October to March) – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

    How to Reach

    To reach the museum, one should take a non-public vehicle, taxi, or bus to McLeodganj.  The landmark of the Lama Temple isn’t enough to succeed in the Tibetan deposit if there’s any confusion regarding the placement of the locality.

     The museum is definitely accessible from each aerodrome and therefore the train station. The nearest airport is Gigal Airport.  You can hire a taxi from there and get here directly.  Also, Kangra Railway Station is the closest to the Tibetan Museum.  You can arrange a private car or take a cab.
