    Yamdagni Ashram is a beautiful and pleasant temple located in Dharmapur of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is known as the meditation place of Maharishi Yamdagni. It is a divine place situated on the bank of river Gomti which is also called Adi Ganga. 

    Yamdagni Rishi is one of those sages who are called Taramandal. Sage Yamdagni is from Bhrigu lineage and he is one of the Saptarishi also. The great and well-known sage Parshurams life is closely associated with this place. This place has a very positive vibe. Renuka Mata or Akhanda Devi temple is closely located to the Yamdagni Ashram.

    History

    Yamdagni Ashram of Jaunpur was built following the old and traditional style of constructing buildings. This Ashram follows the traditional cultures of working. 

    Renuka Mata or Akhanda Devi temple near Yamdagni Ashram possesses a history. That is, Renuka was the mother of Parshuram. She got her name Akhanda Devi by an incident. As the story goes, Parshuram was ordered by his father to cut his mother’s throat. He followed his father’s order without any question. His father became pleased with him and asked him for his wishes. Then he wished for his mother’s life. That’s how he obeyed his father and also loved his mother.

    Inside/Outside Views

    The building of Yamdagni Ashram is really picturesque. It is a white color, elegant-looking building.

    When you enter the temple premises, first notice a banyan tree and an ancient Shivalinga under the tree with the ancient idols of Nandi Maharaj, Ganesha, Natraj, Devi Durga, and some other gods.     Sages who came here to meditate take their last breath here after succeeding. Their graves are also inside the temple premises. 

    Over the course of time, many things have disappeared. But the administration and locals are continuously trying to improve this divine place.

    By Air: Lal Bahadur Shastri Babatpur is Varanasi which is the nearest airport to Jaunpur. It is 38 kilometers from Jaunpur city. By reaching the airport in Varanasi, you can go by train or bus to reach Jaunpur. 

    By Train: By taking the train you can go to Jaunpur.
