    Yumesamdong is also popularly known as Zero point. The word zero point suggests that it is the hindmost frontier of civilization. This is a valley on the Lachung river. This place is located 15 kilometers from Yumthang. This place is considered as untouched beauty of Sikkim. It is situated at 4724 m altitude in the North East of the state. Yumesamdong is also known for its rich snow capped meadow and gentle breeze. It has a fascinating landscape and breathtaking surroundings. Yumesamdong is adjacent to the Chinese border. That is why it demands for an Inner Line Permit. From the tourist information center or through any registered tour operator you can obtain this.

    To capture the cold nature at its best, Yumesamdong provides a perfect setting with its snow-capped mountains and the ice-fed valley.

    If you are lucky enough, the Himalayan Blue Sheep, which is extremely rare, has even seen you. It is usually gazing in this posture. Yumesamdong has around 14 hot springs which water is rich in sulfur and it is said that the water has medicinal and healing properties. You can also visit two attractive places, Yumthang Valley and Katao, along with Yumesamdong. Yumthang Valley is quite near Yumesamdong and is covered with poppies, primulas, and rhododendrons. If you want to gather knowledge about the native culture and tradition of Sikkim, you can make a visit to Lachung village which is just 24 kilometers from Katao.

    By Air: Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, West Bengal, is the nearest airport to reach Yumesamdong. This airport is well connected to all the main cities of India. It is around 125 kilometers from Lachung. From the airport, first you need to reach Gangtok by taxi, which is 102 kilometers from the airport. From there, Yumesamdong is about 40 kilometers. You need to drive 2-3 hours to reach Yumesamdong Valley. Now, Sikkim has its own airport – Pakyong Airport. You can also go by this airport.

    By Train: New Jalpaiguri in Siliguri, West Bengal, is the nearest railway station to reach Yumesamdong. It is around 191 kilometers from Lachung. This railway station is well connected to major cities like Kolkata and DelhiFrom there, first you need to reach Gangtok by taxi which is 102 kilometers from the railway station. From there, Yumesamdong is about 40 kilometers. You need to drive 2-3 hours to reach Yumesamdong Valley.

    By Road: Lachung is well connected with various cities like Gangtok (102 km), Darjeeling (169 km), Jaipaiguri (231 km), Mangan (51 km) by road. From Lachung, Yumesamdong is about 40 kilometers. You need to drive 2-3 hours to reach Yumesamdong valley.

    Tips for Travellers

    • Book a hotel with three meals. Because there are very few good restaurants where you can have a meal. 
    • Try Sikkimese food. Especially Momos and tea. 
    • Wear shoes with a good grip. It will help you walk in the snow.
