Goa is called “Rome of the East” or “The Miami of India”. It is one of the 28 state of India on the southwestern side. Now a days it turns into a beneficial tourist place or state for India Government. The capital of Goa is Panaji (panjim). Largest city of it is Vasco da Gama. Formation of Goa is in 30 may, 1987. Total area is 3,702km^2.
It is surrounded by the Indian states of Maharashtra to the north and Karnataka to the east and south, with the Arabian Sea forming its western coast.
Language
The official language of Goa is Konkani. But it is a multi-lingual state. They speak the dialects of Konkani and Marathi.

Goa started its journey with the name of a Portuguese colony which remain for 300 years. Its ancient name was “Rewti Dweep”.
In 1312, Goa came under the governance of the Delhi Sultanate.
In 1510, the Portuguese established a permanent settlement in Goa.
In 1961 Goa and Daman and Diu were taken by the Indian Army from the Portuguese.
In 1987, it was made the 25th state of India by the Indian Government.
Travelers who want to visit one of the most interesting national holidays are attracted by Shigmo. Basically, it was held for the long-awaited arrival of spring which symbolized the beginning of New Year in the Hindu calendar.
The celebration of Shivratri is another important traditional event of them. The Touxeachem is a very popular feast celebrated at the magnificent church of St Anne also known as Santana Church located at Talaulim in North Goa where the tradition is offering Cucumbers for blessings at Touxeachem. Basically, young couples come to the church to seek blessing. Say hello to ‘dishtt’, a traditional Goan ritual that involves taking some chilies and salt and lightly rubbing them along the body and limbs of the chosen one. Adults wrestling in wet mud at Chikal Kalo is a traditional play of Goa. Goan Catholic women wear gowns, while Hindu women wear a saree called Nv-vari. Other traditional costumes of Goa people are Pano Bhaju, valkal, and Kashti. Men in Goa wear western style costumes.
Dekhni, Fugdi, Corridinho, and Mando are some of the traditional folk dances of Goa.
Goa is the place of the finest casino and it is the only place in India where gambling is legal.
The climate of Goa has influenced the food of Goa in making spicy different tasted foods. The staple food of the people of Goa is rice and fish curry. Most of their dishes use coconuts, rice, fish pork, meat, and local spices like kokum. Some names of delicious special foods of Goa are given below:
By Bus: There is the availability of private buses in Goa which helps to take within intra-city. KSRTC, MSRTC, AND KTC are some of the government undertakings that operates from Panaji, Madgaon, and Vasco da Gama.
By Air: Dabolim Airport lies just 29km from the state’s capital and is well connected by daily flights from Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Bangalore.
By Train: The two major railheads are Madagaon and Thivim.
