Tamil Nadu is a state of India which is located in the extreme south of the subcontinent. Tamil Nadu is the 11th largest state in India. The major river is Kaveri which meets the needs of agriculture. Tamil Nadu, a South Indian state, with an area of 130,058 km2 and over 62 million people.
Tamil Nadu is bordered by the Bay of Bengal on the east and the Indian Ocean on the south and also by the Arabian Sea in the west for a smaller area. Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are its neighboring states.

Tamil is the sole official language of Tamil Nadu. English is declared an additional official language for communication purposes. India adopted national standards Tamil was the first recognized as a classical language of India.

Hasty changes in the political situation of the rest of India occurred due to infiltrations of Muslim armies from the northwest and the decline of the three ancient rules during the 14th century, the Tamil country became part of the Vijayanagara Empire. After the independence of India, after the Telugu and Malayalam parts of Madras state were parted from Tamilakam state in 1956, it was renamed as Tamil Nadu in 1969 by the municipal government.
Tamil Nadu is supremely rich in culture and heritage. Known to be one of the oldest civilisations in the world. Tamil Nadu belongs to the prestigious Dravidian Family. People who live in the state understand the ethnicity of their culture and how it marks their identity. A great amount of relevance is given to a person’s religion when it comes to personal identity. Four-fifths of the population of the state are Hindus, rest of them are divided in Islam, Christianity, and Jainisme world.

Women mainly wear Saree which is a five to six yards rectangular cloth made of cotton, silk or any other fabric. Kanchipuram Saree is often worn at the time of festivals. Young girls wear a half-sari which includes a blouse, long skirt and a dupatta from the waist to the shoulders.
The official dance of Tamil Nadu is Bharatanatyam. Other folk dances like Parai, Villupattu Karakattam, and Kuthu are also performed by local people. They have achieved the art of spinning, weaving and chiseling over the years and their smartness is replicated in different art subjects like bronzes, sculptor works, carvings, etc.

By Road: Tamil Nadu has a road network of nearly 1.70 lakh km. A number of private and government buses link the important cities and play the entire south. Inter-state buses run by the State Express Transport Corporation connect Chennai with the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Andra Pradesh.
By Air: Tamil Nadu has a widespread domestic flight network from major cities of the state to the rest of the country. There are airports at Chennai, Tiruchirapalli and Madurai that serve flights to U.K, USA and Cities like Thuthukudi (Tuticorin) and Salem have domestic airports. There are local buses, auto rickshaws and mobile app taxis to take you to your destination from the airport.
By Train: Tamil Nadu is a part of the Southern Railways and the state’s railways form a widespread rail network through the length and breadth of the state. Also, the railways provide train services to all other parts of the country from the neighbouring states of the south. It runs a unique journey travelling through to Tamil Nadu by train. It’s good-looking to sit by the windows, watching the rolling countryside, the animals grazing on the plains.
