    Location

    Tripura is bordered by Bangladesh to the north south and west, and the Indian states of Assam and Mizoram to the east., It is among the smallest of India’s states and is located in a secluded hilly region of the country, with various original peoples—or tribes—accounting for a significant portion of the population.

    Language

    Bengali is an official language and many other minority languages in Tripura. As in the rest of India, English is used for official purposes. Bengali is the most spoken language, due to the numerousness of Bengali people in the state.

    Peoples

    In 2011 the state had 3,671,032 people, set up 0.3% of the country’s population. The Bengali Hindu entities outline the majority in the state. Schedule tribes structure around 30% of their population. The Kokborok-speaking Tripuri people are the critical group among 19 tribes and various sub-tribes.

    History of Tripura

    Tripura is a long-drawn story that dates back to the time of one of the famous epics in India, Mahabharata. The history of Tripura can be established in the captions of the Ashokan Pillar. The history of Tripura points out that around the 7th Century the Tripuri Kings with the title of ‘pha’ which means father, ruled from the Kailashahar region in North Tripura.

    Tripura seems in the chronicles of Rajmala, the royal chronicle of the Tripura Manikya dynasty. Manikya dynasty was invented in 1280 A.D. when the King of Tripura Ratna Fa assumed the title of Manikya, Indo- Mongolian in origin, the Tripura Manikya dynasty ruled over the region for hundreds of years. Tripura witnessed. Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya was the last ruling Manikya king of Tripura. After his death, Tripura assented to Indian Government. In the year 1949, Tripura developed a Union Territory of India, and in the year 1972 when Tripura was made a constituent state of the Indian Nation.  a change with the sifting of the capital from Kailashahar to Udaipur in the 14th Century AD.

    Tradition of Tripura

    Tripura is considered in small portion living in plain areas by mainstream Indian cultural influence spearheaded by Bengali culture dominating over indigenous tribal traditional practices especially living in those plain areas. Bengali culture is the main non-tribal culture in the state.

    Tripura is well-known for bamboo and cane handicrafts. Bamboo played an important part in the jhumia (shifting cultivation) of the tribes. Their indigenous musical instruments are the sarinda, chonaprena, and sumui(a kind of flute). Songs are sung during religious occasions, weddings, and other festival. Numerous fertility gods are also worshiped by the tribes, such as Lam-Pra (the twin deities of sky and sea), Mailu-ma (goddess of corn, identified with Lakshmi), Khulu-ma (goddess of the cotton plant), and Burha-sa (god of healing). Durga Puja, Kali Pujas. Football and cricket are the most popular sports in the state.

    By Road: Agartala is 44 Km from Teliamura, 109 km from Manu, 133 Km from Kumarghat, and 295 Km from Silchar. So, we can reach Tripura on any kind of road.

    By Train: Kumarghat rail station which is 140kms away from Tripura. The Kumarghat station is connected to the railheads of Kolkata, Delhi, Indore, Chennai, and Bangalore. Taxis are available near the station to reach Tripura.

    By Air: The Agartala airport in Tripura is the bordering airport. At a distance of 5mins from Agartala. This airport is connected to Kolkata and Guwahati by direct flights.
