West Bengal

Location

This state is in the Northside of the Bay of Bengal. In the East, it’s covered with Bangladesh and in the North, with Nepal and Bhutan.

Language

Bengali is an Indo-Aryan language which is primarily spoken by the West Bengal peoples. Besides it, other using languages are Hindi, Koborok, Kurmali, Magahi, Nepali, Rangpuri. Rarhi dialect, Santal, Urdu.

History of West Bengal 

The History of West Bengal began in 1947. In 1947 India became independent from the British. Bangladesh and Pakistan merged with each other and separated from main India.
The Bengal divided into two parts, East Bengal and West Bengal. Partition has happened from a religious perspective. At the later time, in 1971, East Bengal got independent from Pakistan with the name of Bangladesh.

Tradition of West Bengal 

The tradition or culture of West Bengal has a rich treasury. Bengali literature, art, music, several rituals, customs, dresses are the parts of West Bengal’s tradition. 

In the case of Music, The Baul song is a unique heritage of their music which is a kind of folk music. Other forms of folk music are Kavi gaan, Gambhira, Bhawaiya, Kirtan, and gajan. Ektara, a one-stringed instrument is famous for folk musical art. Rabindrasangeet, Najrulgeeti are the two most famous song forms of West Bengal which are considered classical music.

Traditional dances are derived from folk like Purulias Chau dance, which is now a rare form of dance. Mask dance is another form of dance. As a traditional dress, women wear saree and salwar kameez, men wear dhuti, fotuya, lungi. Bangali Pahela Baisakh which is the celebration of the Bengali new year is started with a traditional rally named Mangal Shobhajatra. Jatra is a very famous and attractive drama dorm in West Bengal. Durga Puja is one of the famous festivals for this state’s people.

Bengali foods are too much popular, especially it’s fish items. Some especial food names are given below-

How to reach West Bengal

By Train: Main railway stations of West Bengal are Howrah railway station and sealdah railway station which are situated in capital city Kolkata. Darjeeling Toy train taking to the hill station Darjeeling. Another new Jalpaiguri Station is situated near Siliguri.

By Bus: There is the availability of state buses on all sides of the state.

By Air: Two airports are in west Bengal. One is International Airport named Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Kolkata and another is a domestic, named Bagdogra airport in Bagdogra city.
