One of the largest cities in the Indian state of Assam is Guwahati which is formerly known as Guwahati. It is also the largest metropolis in northeastern India. In India, it is one of the fastest growing cities and a major riverine port city along with hills. Being seated on the south bank of the Brahmaputra, Guwahati is known as the ‘gateway to northeast India’. The capitals of the ancient state of Kamarupa were the primitive cities of Pragjyotishpura and Durjaya (North Guwahati). Many ancient Hindu temples situated in the city that give it the title of “the city of temples” are kamakhya temple, ugratara temple, basistha temple, doulgovinda, and the umananda temple. With LGB international airport to the west and the town of Narengi to the east, This lies between the banks of the Brahmaputra river and the foothills of the Shillong plateau.

Diverse wildlife including rare animals such as Asian elephants, pythons, tigers, rhinoceros, gaurs, primate species, and endangered birds are hosted by the Guwahati regions.

By Air: Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport Guwahati which is located about 20 kilometers (12 mi) west of the heart of the city. It is the eleventh busiest airport in India in total passenger traffic with all major domestic and international airlines which fly to Guwahati.

By Rail: The northeast frontier railway zone of the Indian railways is the railway under which the city of Guwahati and the northeastern region falls, in the northwest of the city, The headquarters of which is in Malegaon, near Nilachal hills.

By Bus: Within the city, the length of surfaced roads is 218 km (135 mi). Guwahati is connected with the states of west Bengal, Bihar, and the rest of India by national highway 27.
