The capital of the Indian state is Kolkata (in Bengali) which was spelled as calcutta until 2001. It’s located on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River. Also, this city is the capital of West Bengal.

Along with the main port of communication for North east India ,it is the primary business, commercial and financial hub of Eastern India. Again it’s the third largest Urban economy of India. The 7th most populous city in India is Kolkata, under 2011 Indian Census. For it’s historical and architectural interpretation the city is known as the “cultural capital of India”.

    By Air: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is about 17 kilometres away from the heart of the city. This airport has good connection on main cities in India and other countries. From the airport you can take a taxi or a bus to your destination.

    By Train: There are an efficient network of railways in Kolkata which is linked to cities all over the country. The two main railways are Howrah and Sealdah.

    By Road: National highways connects Kolkata with the rest of the cities fairly. The main station is Esplanade Bus Station.
