    Chaulabhaja waterfall is located in the Similipal Wildlife harborage. It’s absolutely an amazing waterfall but somewhere it is very risky. The waterfall is situated 30km away from Baripada town. You have to cross 3 to 4 km of hilly roads to witness the actual Chaulabhaja waterfall. The surroundings of the Waterfall are dense forests and hills.  The place is full of natural resources. During rainy season, trekking will be more dangerous through the slippery uneven roads. The waterfall is also known as Chaulibhaja Waterfall among the locals. The falling water comes from the hills in many levels. During spring,  the water becomes crystal clear. So, It’s a recommended place for a picnic or family outing in Mayurbhanj.

    Chaulabhaja Waterfall

    History

    Chaulabhaja Waterfall is one of the highest and renowned waterfalls in Odisha. It has a height of around  300 feet. The waterfall is created naturally but the locals named it ‘Chaulabhaja’ as the falling water of the waterfall resembles rice grains which means Chaulabhaja in the local language. The water falls from a height of around 300 feet. When you reach the top point of the waterfall, you can enjoy the entire beauty of Similipal National Park.  Besides, there is another waterfall near the Chaulabhaja waterfall which is known as Bhoolbulaya waterfall. The waterfall is the best place for trekking and hiking.

    How to Reach

    By Air: Biju Patnaik International Airport is the nearest airport to the waterfall.  It is approximately 256 km away from the waterfall. From the airport,  you can easily book a cab or taxi to get to your desired place. The journey will be enjoyable through lush greenery. 

    By Train: The nearest railway station is Baripada. The distance between the railway station and the Waterfall is only 31 km.  You can hire a taxi to get there without any hassle. 

    By Road: Dukura Chhaka Bus Stand is the nearest bus stand to the waterfall.  It is probably 14 km away from the Waterfall. From here,  you can take a taxi or cab to get there very easily.

    • The best time to visit Chaulabhaja waterfall is at all times of the year. But during winter,  the weather remains comfortable  and makes it suitable for outdoor activities. 
    • Carry your necessary papers, passport,water bottles & medicines & energy drink.
    • Please dressed according to the weather. Carry enough warm clothes.
    • Try to know the weather update before going there.
    • Try to eat local cuisine and know their tradition. 
    • Remember to check local guidelines. 
    • This is not suitable for kids or aged-people.
    • Please carry trekking equipments and make sure that equipments are good enough for trekking.
