    Attraction

Dhoni WaterfallsWhen someone says Dhoni, the first picture that comes to mind is the six that MS Dhoni hit against Kulasekara to win the World Cup for India. But for people in Palakkad, Kerala, India, Dhoni reminds them of a beautiful place with a serene waterfall. There is an activity to do, and that is to trek to a waterfall. The main attraction is not the destination (waterfall). It is the journey to that fall that makes it more exciting and blissful. Please do not keep your expectations too high other than those of wild beauty and a heavenly waterfall. After a long trek, when your exhausted body gets to tough the fresh cold water, you will feel like stepping into another world.

The trek is approximately 4.00 km through the forest. As a result, it might take around two hours to reach the waterfall. During and after the rainy season, the flow of the water is more intense. Here, you will not be allowed to jump into the waterfall or take a bath. But the journey will be memorable for sure. Nature lovers have reported it as a wonderful experience indeed.

    Inside/Outside Views

Dhoni WaterfallsThe Dhoni is bordered by Western Ghats on the north. And Dhoni Waterfalls is located around 15 km from the main city of Palakkad. It is also around 34 km from Kollengode Town in Palakkad district.

However, the Dhoni waterfalls is a 4 km trekking way (from the gate to the waterfall). While trekking, you might observe that a road has been paved with stones, thereby making it walkable in all seasons. Often, during the trekking, you will come across small streams. Inside the forest area, the impact of the sun is not too great. The road is cut in a zig-zag manner with hairpin bends so that strain and direct climbing can be avoided. However, some enthusiasts have reported that avoiding the main path and taking shortcuts can make the walk more thrilling.  Such ‘unofficial paths’ to reach the fall can be seen everywhere in the forest. On such roads, you need the help of shrubs and branches of trees. It will take around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the waterfalls. But remember that the journey is exciting and risky as well. So, you need to be extra cautious. The best time to visit is just after the rainy season.
