    Forest Research Institute is a natural resource service training Institute of the Indian Council of Forestry education and research and is an Institute in the field of forestry research in India for Indian forest service cadres and all state forest service cadres. This place is located at Dehradun in Uttarakhand. It’s among the oldest institutes of its kind and it was declared a deemed University by the University Grants Commission in 1991.

    In 1878 it was founded as the British Imperial Forest School by Dietrich Brandis. It was reestablished as the Imperial Forest Institute in 1906 under the British Imperial Forestry Service.
