    The Giant Buddha is popularly known as the Great Buddha. It is located in Bodh Gaya district under the district of Gaya in the state of Bihar, India. There is a lot of history behind this place. We know that Gautam Buddha is also known as Bodhi. It was here that Buddha attained enlightenment from Pali Bodhi. The name of the tree under which he used to acquire knowledge was the Bodhi tree. This statue of Buddha is mainly made of sandstone. 16300 paintings of Buddha can be seen on the inner walls of the statue. There is also a staircase leading from the ground to the chest of the statue. But it is not usable. The work of making the statue started in the year 1982 and the statue was lunch to the people on 18 November 1989.
