    There is a lot of history behind this Mahabodhi Temple. It is the most ancient temple of Bodh Gaya and Bihar. Mahabodhi Temple was founded by Mauryan emperor Ashoka. All the walls of the temple are inlaid with artwork. It is a very holy place for Buddhists because Buddha came here physically. Buddha spent a lot of time here. Here he acquired knowledge from Pala Bodhi. This temple is situated near the Lilajan River. The Buddha is practicing suicide six times in this place.
    Here you can find a big statue of Buddha. You will be astonished to see how big it is. The height of the temple is 180 feet. The Bodhi tree inside Mahabodhi Temple is another historical thing. The Mahabodhi Temple has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
