A sanctuary is a protected area where animals can live freely without the threat of hunting. Punnathur Kotta is one of the famous sanctuaries in Kerala. Punnathur Kotta is known as Elephant Palace and is located in Kottapadi in the Thrissur district of Kerala. Around 3 km from this area is a famous Krishna Guruvayoor Temple. It is the place where people worship the elephant face as the god Lord Ganapathy. It is a costly sanctuary with around 60 elephant houses here, which are used for Temple rituals and festivals. The elephants are well-kept, and the sanctuary has veterinary facilities. It’s wonderful to see the dedication and care to serve Lord Krishna. Here, the elephants participate in various temple festivals, which reflect the importance of these animals in the local culture. It is one of the special places to visit in Kerala.
