    History

    Local people of this area said that Lord Vishnu, in his incarnation as Harisankar, meditated here to attain salvation. The temple’s name, “Harisankar,” is derived from the amalgamation of “Hari,” which means lord Vishnu, and “Shankar,” which means lord Shiva.
    During the 14th century, The god of Harisankar was discovered by the Chauhan dynasty king of Odisha. This temple was constructed by the order of the Queen Durlabha Devi of Maharaja Vaijjal Dev Chauhan.
    This is the most holiest temple ever. So must visit this temple.

They also arrange for fifteen days of fairs every year at the time of the Mahashivaratri festival.  A festival has been organized by the people of this place and organizers to celebrate this big festival annually.  On this night, the devotees fast and do not eat anything till night, and flowers offer fruits and vine leaves on the Shiva Linga.
