    Tapkeshwar Temple is a well-known temple in Dehradun and its also known as Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple. It’s one of the most famous temples dedicated to Shiva and it’s situated by the forest side the main shiva linga at the temple is inside a nature lover. Water drops from the ceiling of the cave trickle down over the shiva linga in a continuous downpour.

    History

    Tapkeshwar Temple

    This temple owes its importance due to a natural Shiva Linga in a cave nearby 

    Long back the river flowed through the caves and continuous water droplets fell on the Shiv Linga and this place became of reverence for the local people. Its believed that this was used as a residence by Guru Dronacharya who was the esteemed teacher of Kauravas and Pandavas of the Hindu epic Mahabharata which was written by Ved Vyas. This cave is thus named Drona cave.

This temple is widely popular as a pilgrimage site in Dehradun and it’s a beautiful temple of lord shiva which is established Between the two hills and attracts hundreds of tourists from inside and around Dehradun all around the year. This place is of religious significance and adventures go there to see the water drops dripping on the Shiva ling in Drona Cave which is a spectacular sight in this temple Mahadev temple, cool sulfur-water springs where devoted pilgrims take bath before entering this temple.
