    The rivers Rangeet and Teesta falls down from the Himalayan which creates white water in the falling point along with stretches which are perfect for rafting.

    The river Teesta originates from Tso Lhamo Lake in North Sikkim at an altitude of more than 5,330 meter .It forms the boundary between the Darjeeling district and Sikkim.

    It’s introduced by DGHC (Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council) in 1991. Now it is known as GTA.

    The opening time of this place is 8am to 4:30 pm.This place remain open throughout the year.

    The best month for rafting is December to June.Rafting is closed during the month of July – Mid September.

    The cost of Rafting varies on the duration , location, type of rafting. It is advised to contact the trip organizer before booking the tickets . 

    The estimated price for rafting in the Teesta White Water is  Rs. 3000-5500.

    How to Reach

    By Bus: The Kalimpong Bus stand is only 15.6 away from the Rafting. It can also be reached from the nearest railway station and airport. The visitors can take a taxi from the station or airport to go to the river.

    By Train: New Jalpaiguri Railway Station Siliguri Jn Train Station is the nearest station from here. After reaching there you can rickshaw to reach there.

    By Air: The nearest airport is: Bagdogra Air Force Base Airport is the nearest airport from here. After reaching there you can take a bus or car to reach the place.

    Ans: Yes, there is a rafting course in Teesta Bazar. It will take around 1.5 hours to reach there by taxi or vehicle from the Darjeeling town. And from the Bagdogra airport it would take 2 hours and 15 minutes to reach the destination

    • Melli to 29th Mile

    Duration: 1.5 hours

    • Melli to Kalijhora

    Duration: 3 hours

    For Swimmers:

    • Tarkhola to Melli

    Duration: 2 hours

    • Tarkhola to 29th Mile

    Duration: 2 hours

    • Starts at 7th Mile and ends at the Labarbote near the Sikkim Bengal Border

    Length: 4-5 km

    • Bordang to 29th Mile

    Duration: 4-5hours

    Que-06: Can overweight people take part in the Rafting?

    Ans: No, people more than 90kg cannot take part in the rafting . It will be risky for them. It is advised the visitors who are fit in health should take part in the rafting.
