    Tortoise Rock of Idukki is a serene and picturesque spot in the Western Ghats. This rock is unique and comparatively less visited. However, its shape resembles that of a tortoise and that is how it got its name. The lake is named for its distinct shape that resembles the shell of a tortoise. The formation is a natural one, and the surrounding terrain adds to its charm. The lake is surrounded by steep slopes and forested areas.

    By road: It is situated in Idukki’s ‘Anaviratty’ area. From the busy area of Idukki, Tortoise  Rock is only 40 to 50 km away. Kerala is well connected with other major cities like Kolkata, Midnapore, Chennai, Siliguri, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Mumbai etc. of the country. From Idukki city, you will get local transport to reach the site.

    By air: The closest airport, ‘Cochin International Airport’ (which is an international one), is almost 120 kilometers away from this area which is in Nedumbassery, Kochi, Kerala, 683111. You can visit this place from outside of India. It is also well connected with major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, or Lucknow with direct flights. From the airport, you can easily get local transport to reach the site.

    By train: The closest railway station from Tortoise  Rock is around 124 km away at the ‘Aluva Railway Station’. This station is well connected with major areas of the country. From the station, you will get local transport so that you can reach the site.
