    History

    Basically, Balidiha Dam is an old water reservoir.  It is also known as the Baldiha Dam. The Dam has an interesting history. The then Mayurbhanj king, Sriram Chandra Bhanj Deo, constructed the Dam on the Palpala River in 1912.  The Dam serves as a source of food for the laborers who are employed in its construction.  It also has another purpose, like irrigating farmlands.  Foreign engineers designed the Dam and made it a picturesque place for visitors. It serves as the perfect background to click photos. The Dam’s reservoir creates serene surroundings for all people. The combination of Simlipal’s lush green forest and blue sky creates a canopy over the reservoir and makes it an attractive tourist place for nature lovers.  Though it is a beautiful place, the road isn’t so good for driving. So, be careful.

    By Train: Baripada Railway Station is the nearest station to the Dam.  It is approximately 17 kms away from the station.  You can easily get a cab or taxi to get to the place. 

    By Road: Baripada Bus stand is the nearest to the Dam. From Baripada town, you can take a taxi or cab to reach Badjod Dam. It is only 17 kms away from the city. The road is well-connected, so it is a hassle-free journey. Besides, you can enjoy the lush greenery.

    • The road is very narrow. So, If you bring a car, be careful. Safe driving!
