    Moti Bagh Palace is a famous palace in Patiala and it’s known as Pearl Garden Palace. Maharaja Narinder Singh built this palace which is the great grandfather of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in 1847 for five lakhs of rupees. In the reigned 1845-62, the old Moti Bagh Palace and New Moti Bagh Palace were built respectively by Maharaja Narinda Singh and Maharaja Yadavindra Singh.

    History

    In 1920 it was expanded under the supervision of Sir Ganga Ram. After independence the government of India took over the premises and later converted it into a museum and the National Institute of Sports Patiala is situated in its west wing where the annual Patiala heritage festival is celebrated. In 1959 there is another building which is known as New Moti Bagh was built and that is the residence of Amarinder Singh.

    Inside this palace, the Boasting of striking and exuding old charm is home to 15 dining halls. A part of this palace has been converted into a Museum and the remaining into the National Institute of sports.

    It’s also known as the Sheesh Mahal is home to a lot of relics of culture, art, and several paintings belonging to the 20th century.

    The walls are adorned with a medals collection awarded by the consecutive Maharajas and another attraction of this palace is the beautiful artificial lake with a hanging Bridge.
