Himachal Pradesh is a state of India in its northern part, with 55,673 km^2 area. The present chief minister of this state is Jai Ram Thakur. The state is included on 25th January 1971 as an Indian state.

Location

Himachal Pradesh is bordered by Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh in its northern side. In its western part Punjab state, Haryana on the southwest, Tibet region in East. This state basically located in the Western Himalaya.

Language

The official language of Himachal Pradesh is Hindi and native languages are Mandeali, Kangri, Kullu, Bilaspuri, Kinnauri, Lahauli, Pattani. Western Pahari language is also recognized as Himachali Languages.

Peoples

The most dominating communities of Himachal Pradesh are the Gaddi, Gujari, Kinnauri, Lahuli, and Pangwali. After India became independent many Punjabi Immigrant have settled in this state. The majority of 6,864,602 Population is Hindu. Other religions are Buddhists, Sikhs, Muslims, and Christians. Some notable persons are-

History of Himachal Pradesh

Himachal was under control of Tibetan during the 10th century, for this reason, Buddhist culture is followed by Lahaul and Spiti till now. South and West parts of Himachal was ruled by different Rajas, Ranas, Thakurs etc.

Sikh rajas conquered large areas in the early 19th century but lost them again during Anglo-Sikh wars of the 1840s, and most of Himachal became part of the British raj. During 1864, Himachal became the summer capital of British raj. After independence, in 1966 districts administered from Punjab were added, and full statehood was achieved in 1971.

 

Tradition of Himachal Pradesh

Pahari is a traditional language derived from the Himachal state, which is now renowned.  There are lots of traditional temples in this place. Hindu peoples mostly worshipped God Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Natti is a very famous dance form of Kullu peoples which performed by menfolk wearing colorful attire of short tunic and tights and embroidered Kullu caps. Burah, Birsue, and Ghugti are forms of martial dance performed with axes and swords. Shimla peoples perform masked dance based on romantic and satirical themes. Kinnauri women perform Bakhayang dance wearing chunky silver jewelry.
The Brahmins and Rajputs are dominating cast of Hindus, and they follow their traditional customs like race, caste, gotra, etc. They send gifts like jewelry, and clothes to their daughter’s father-in-law’s house as it is their tradition. Parda is a must followed customs of females of Himachal Pradesh. Pashmina shawl is very famous and traditional of this state.

Traditionally Himachal Pradesh’s cuisine is famous for red meat and wheat bread. Rich gravy is based of many dishes. Some famous dish names are given bellow-

How to reach Himachal Pradesh

By Train: Because of this state’s lofty hills there are no major railway services within the state. Railway service for tourists to reach Himachal, “Kalka railway station” is the best option, which is almost 90km away from Shimla.

By Air: International Airport is not available here. But for moving in Indian states, there are Jubbarhati Airport in Kullu, Bhuntar Airport in Shimla and Gaggal Airport in Kangra are available.

By Bus: Bus is available in this state for internal or external both travel by state government. Though the roads are tough but reliable
