Location

Karnataka belongs southwestern part of India. Karnataka is located between 11.5⁰North and 18.5⁰ North latitudes and 74⁰ East and 78.5⁰ East longitudes. To its north side it’s bounded by Goa and Maharashtra, to the east with Telangana, to the southeast with Tamil Nadu, to the south with Kerala, and to the West by the Arabian Sea.

Language

Official languages of Karnataka is Kannada which is used as native language by 70% of population. According to the census, Karnataka has 50 tribal languages. Other languages spoken here are Tulu, Konkani, Kodava, and Urdu.

History of Karnataka

The Maurya dynasty of North India was the first kingdom which holds the state and Chandragupta Maurya was the ruler of Maurya dynasty who converted Jainism in Shravanabelagola.
The Sathavahanas, the Kadambas, and the Gangas have ruled Karnataka. Karnataka became a part of the British rule when Tipu Sultan was defeated. The state was renamed as Karnataka on 1973, 1 November

Tradition of Karnataka

A very interesting and important tradition of here is, during festive experts have to sing or narrate important stories, battles, and other legends. North Karnataka peoples believe in supernatural elements like bhoot and worshipped them.
One of the most famous festival of Karnataka is Kambala, an epic buffalo race. In the case of traditional dresses, men found in shirt, kurta or lungis, and women found in sarees.

Food flavors are varied in Karnataka from region to region. The cuisines of Karnataka are almost the same as neighbor states Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.

How to reach Karnataka

By Train: Bangalore railway station is one of the important railway station of Karnataka. Travelers can also board the Golden Chariot, a luxury tourist train operated by Indian Railways and KSTDC, to travel from Goa to Bangalore via Hampi and Mysore.

By Air: Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Hampi, Hubli, Belgaum and Bijapur are seven places where airports are located in Karnataka. Bengaluru International Airport (Kempegowda international airport) and Mangalore International airport are the only two airports that operate international flights to and from Karnataka.

By Bus: State Bus services are available there for moving within and abroad of the state.
