Churachandpur is the district headquarter of the ancient district Manipur and Its an area of 1,834 sq miles. Its population is 274,100 (2011). Locally the town is called Lamka. The word ' Lam' means path and ' ka' means junction, and it is a Manipuri word. Simply,' Lamka' means the 'place situated at a road Junction '.It is the largest district in Manipur. The district is beautiful and its landscape is also a mix of hills, valleys, mountains, etc.
